What a good holiday rental website needs

1 min read

Guests usually reach your website from Booking.com or Google, on a phone, with one question: is it available, and how much is it? If they can't find the answer in a few seconds, they'll go back to the platform.

  1. Speed on mobile. The site has to open instantly, even on a weak signal at the beach. Photos are in a modern format, and video loads only once it's on screen.
  2. Booking on the first screen. The calendar and a "from" price are visible without scrolling.
  3. Rules next to the calendar. Children's prices, tourist tax, minimum stay and pets are shown next to the dates, so guests don't have to ask.
  4. A reason to book direct. A short strip under the headline: the best price without commission, direct contact with the host, a web-only offer.
  5. WhatsApp and phone. Always visible, because many guests send a message first.
  6. Photos and short videos. The pool, the sea and the view from the room, without waiting for them to load.
  7. Location with distances. How far it is to the beach, the shop, restaurants and the airport.
  8. Reviews with a source. A rating and a few guest reviews, with a note on where they come from.
  9. Your guests' languages. Most often English, German and Croatian, and Italian or Slovenian where needed.
